5 Things to Do Before Shipping your Products
By Ahmed Nassar
Successful businesses thrive to grow and maintain good relationships with their customers. As a retailer you should put that as a top priority, especially in retail where there is significant competition. Deferentiating your business is about the little extra things that add value to your customers, and make them satisfied and consequently they repeat business with you.
Wether you are selling in your own store, or on eBay, you have to not only satisfy your customers, but to have them like to do business with you. Once you reach that, you are on your way to big success.
In this article I like to point out 5 things you can do before you ship that box out. Let's list them:
- Item Number and Description: Write this clearly on the box. Maybe under the address is a good place. This will allow your customer to identify what the item is right away. Convinience is nice don't you agree?
- Your Company Logo: Putting your logo on the shipping box looks professional, and lets your buyers see where the item arrived from. A good logo can improve the look of your package, and can help build recognition of your business.
- Your Company Address and Contact Info: It’s worth putting your own address on the box in case the item can’t be delivered and needs to be returned to you. This usually goes under your logo, as it reinforces the impression that you’re a real business with a real address, not some shady operation. In addition add any additional info. such as your phone number, email, and website.
- A Receipt: You’ll probably find it worth printing off a ‘receipt’ from eBay – the confirmation of payment page – and putting it in the envelope. If you want to make your customers feel even better about having ordered from you, you can also include a compliments slip, featuring your logo, your website address and a message like 'Thank you for your order. Please contact me if there are any problems. [Your name].'
- Additional Offers: I think it is a great idea to let cutomers who already bough from you know what else you've got for sale. This is called Upselling, you are simply offering related products to 'warm' customers. You might be surprised what kind of results you will get if you do this right.
So, here you go, above are five things that need to go out with your product package. It all comes down to giving your customers something extra to make them happy, and always remember: the more they like what they get, the more likely they are to come back and order again from you in the future.
Good luck with your customer relationships!
